Okay...
I am trying to set my peak resolution on my PC...but the slider is staying at 640X480 (16 Bit color) the other options are exclusive. I just reinstalled Windows and it is Service Pack 1. Will upgrading to Service Pack 2 fix this problem?
Answer:
It may not; but its worth a try. You should install SP2 any process. Your problem is the display driver. You need to capture the driver CD out, and install the video driver after you install window. If you cannot find it, go on the net from another computer and download it from the manufacturer's web site. Once you install the driver, you will know how to see all the extended resolution option and colors.
SP1 or 2 will not help this, installing the VIDEO CARD DRIVERS will aid this
With no video card drivers, your computer is using its on-board video acceleration, and NOT using your video card. On board graphics only support 640x480.
Solve the problem by installing the Video Card Drivers from the Manufacturer's website. The system should later promptly activate hardware acceleration on the video card and impart you your resolution options.
