Screensaver and moniter settings interview.?

If I turn on the screensaver, is it going to mute sounds? I want to be capable of idle and still hear when someone signs on to my yahoo enumerate or if I get an email. same ask with the moniter, if I set the moniter to shut itself rotten, will I still hear sounds?

moniter off == sounds rotten <--if built in speakers.
