Playing HD Movies on Computer?

I'm exploring the belief of watching HD quality movies on my computer. I researched expressions like HDCP and HDMI. What would you speak is required to watch HD feature movies. Would you need a HD in position monitor, video card, etc? And if possible, exactly what is HDCP and HDMI? I know it have something to do with allowing you to attitude HD but in jargon of computers?
